Celebrating Independence Day: A Reflection on Family and Faith

I pray everyone had a wonderful time celebrating our nations freedom while being safe. We went to a local celebration that was full of family fun and ended with an amazing firework display. I never realized how the Forth of July and hearing our national anthem would make me so emotional since my son joining the Army. I mean, let’s be real, hearing the national anthem would always make my heart swell with pride, but now it might make me cry.

I also learned how much God has been working on my heart. I was out in a citation that the old me would have reacted in anger. But last night, I was able to calm my heart before I reacted. I just waved and drove off. This scenario makes me even more thankful and want to push into my relationship with Jesus even more. I have worked hard on cleaning my heart and removing things from my life that is not pleasing to Him.

July 4th was also my 21st wedding anniversary with my husband, but unfortunately he had to work. We did celebrate the night before and went to have lunch together before he went to work. With us trying to get our tiny home done, we aren’t able to do a lot other than buying stuff for that. It will be worth it in the end.

Small update on the house, my husband has started on the Insulation and we ordered our shower that will be installed. With the price of everything, we may have to move in before it is completely finished and finish it as we are able to buy things for the house. It is ok though, we are just wanting to get in there and have our privacy back.

To end, just keep praying for us to have the ability to quickly get both tiny houses completed so I can get both my girls back with me, that we can get back to routine, and that we can get back to our daily encounters.
