My Protector

I’m sitting here in our tiny home, reflecting on how Christmas mornings used to look compared to now. We don’t have a tree up this year, and the only decorations I managed were our Christmas bedding. Our tiny home journey has come a long way—we have our shower and toilet installed, the bathroom wall is up, walls in the living and kitchen area are going up, and most of it is painted.

We’ve been so consumed with getting our home finished that every extra dollar has gone toward that goal, and honestly, I haven’t even thought much about Christmas. Last year was especially hard—we had no money for our kids because my husband wasn’t working.

But the truth is, Christmas isn’t about presents. It’s about Jesus—who came humbly into this world and ultimately sacrificed His life for yours and mine. And in that truth, we already have more than enough.

Through the pressing and our journey of building a deeper relationship with Jesus, we have learned that presents are not what truly matter. We used to spend so much money on gifts for our kids. They would have piles to open, and while it brought excitement, it was only a temporary joy.

Over time, we’ve been teaching them that real joy comes from keeping our eyes focused on Jesus—because when our focus stays on Him, our joy doesn’t fade. Our kids have been so graceful through this season. They haven’t been upset about not having a bunch of presents to open, and that alone feels like a blessing.

I am so thankful that they understand what we are trying to do and recognize the importance of staying focused on the One who truly matters.

ABBA,
I thank You for the clarity You have shown me and for the pressing You have allowed me to walk through, drawing me into a deeper connection with You. Thank You, Jesus, for Your ultimate sacrifice on the cross for my sins.

Father, I lift up the lost to You, and I pray for those sitting around a table with an empty seat. May their eyes remain fixed on You, the source of true hope and comfort.

Father, I trust that our blessings are coming and that our “bigger” is just around the corner, according to Your perfect timing. I ask for Your guidance in every step I take and for Your will to be done in our lives.

I pray all of this in the mighty name of Jesus,
